The Story
Music

Judith Lorick, a native of Philadelphia, has been singing since the age of four. She started singing jazz during her college years and her reputation prompted Stan Kenton’s invitation to sing at the Villanova Jazz Festival.  She was also invited to sing with Earl Fatha Hines, and Young Holt Unlimited, notable credentials for a newcomer.

Judith began her professional music career in California, appearing in concert as well as in jazz clubs and festivals in the US until moving to Europe in 1988.

A resident of the Côte d'Azur for 28 years, Judith appeared in concerts throughout Europe including the jazz festivals in Marciac and in Nice. Her first CD entitled “Songs for My Mother”, brought such raves in the French press as, “One would place her more appropriately between Sarah Vaughn, for her boldness of melody and rhythm, and Shirley Horn, for an impressive art of silence that knows so well how to glide between the notes...Judith Lorick navigates with sensuality through unexpected improvisations, just this side of perfection”(Libération).

After returning to the US, she released her latest CD, “The Second Time Around” (a collaboration with Eric Reed, Jeremy Pelt, McClenty Hunter, Kiyoshi Kitagawa and Chris Lewis).

Judith moved to Panama in 2020 and is here to stay. Still mesmerizing people with her voice and natural charisma.

“From the most melodious ballads to blues that swing, the emotion and sensitivity got the crowds so excited that they could barely stay on their chairs, intoxicated by the rhythm.”

- Nice Matin-Jean Paul Metayer
